Our Beliefs
Open Communion
The Lord's Supper, or Communion, is celebrated in weekly worship and is open to all.
God Calls Us to Mission
All of creation is a gift from God. Our voices of justice, mercy and peace must be boldly spoken to those powers that would stand in the way of God’s peace, God’s shalom being experienced by all. We are called to be God’s movement for wholeness in a fragmented world. We commit our time, talent and money to such a mission.
Biblical Faith ...Thinking Faith
We love the Bible and take it seriously using both our minds and our hearts in a lifelong journey of understanding the ways it calls us to live out our
faith daily.
The Oneness of the Church
All Christians are called to be one in Christ and to seek opportunities for common witness and service.
Freedom of Belief
As Disciples, we are called together around two essentials of faith: a belief in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, and that Christians are free to follow their conscience guided by Bible study, the Holy Spirit and prayer. We are expected to extend that freedom of belief to others.
Ministry of All Believers
Both ministers and lay persons lead in worship, service and spiritual growth.
Covenant Relationships
Each congregation is autonomous but we choose to be related as a distinctive denomination in a covenant of passion and compassion to carry the Good News of God’s love in Jesus Christ to the entire world.
Baptism by Immersion
In baptism, the old self-centered life is set aside, washed away and a new life of trust in God begins. Although Disciples practice baptism by immersion, other baptism traditions are honored and welcomed.
Above All
We believe that Jesus Christ is the son of the Living God, who offers saving grace to all through his Son.
